Three Year Old Western Pleasure Mare Saay My Name has continued to add to her resume. The Virginia Maiden champion had her name called again as The Madness champion in the Three Year Old Open Western Pleasure Futurity with Aaron Moses aboard
When The Way To Go spoke to Aaron in Virginia, he had not had much time to get to know ‘Chevy.’ The mare, by Machine Made and out of HP Only The Best, was bred by Mariann Harrington and Joe Prause at H&P Ranch. Aaron had bought the mare from Gil Galyean for customers Wes and Lindy Ashlock at the Arizona Sun Circuit, and was nervous to show her for the first time in the Virginia Maiden.
“I didn’t know her that well yet, and I wasn’t sure how she would take things then,” he said. “But she showed great then, and even better today – she’s always very consistent and just does what I ask her to do.”
In the Three Year Old Western Pleasure Futurity at the Madness, Aaron confidently guided her through the class, showing her both on and off the rail in the 15-horse class held in the. R. & L Arena. “She’s gotten a lot more finished since Virginia, and we’re getting to know each other more,” he said.
The Ashlocks also hope to add a Non-Pro portion to Chevy’s career, but it might be a battle between mom Lindy and daughter Clara as to who will get to show her in Non-Pro events. “They will have to figure that out,” laughed Aaron.
The large, deep class saw many contenders. The top ten placings included:
