The National Snaffle Bit Association held its annual General Membership meeting on December 3, 2021 at New York – New York hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Clay MacLeod presided over the meeting highlighting the years’ achievements including record setting memberships, Markel Insurance BCF Yearling Sale revenues surpassing 1.4 Million dollars and show approvals up nearly 15%. Increases were seen in all areas including the Equestrian with Disabilities, Heroes on Horses, Smart Points enrollments and Incentive Fund participation. Membership skyrocketed with the addition of nearly 40 approved NSBA Hunter Jumper Special Events and the related horse registration.

By the election of the 2020 NSBA membership meeting, Janet Gunn was named 2022 NSBA President with Charles Cannizzaro elected as President Elect. Other officers voted into position for 2022 include Kevin Dukes as First Vice President, Phil Harris as Second Vice President, Michael Tidwell as Treasurer and Laina Banks as Secretary.

After the passing of the gavel to Janet Gunn, she outlined goals for 2022 including vision planning and promoting awareness of the NSBA Foundation’s five pillars of work.

A graduation ceremony was held for the first class of Tomorrows Horsemen, presented as a special project of the NSBA Foundation through the donation of the Mary F Atkinson Family Trust. NSBA members congratulated the 2021 class of Tomorrows Horsemen including Adam Smith, Cody Parrish, Denton DeBuhr, Houston Huff, Jessi Irion, Marissa Phillips Strobeck and Shannon Curl-Holbin.

The Association continues to see success by virtue of its membership, the men and women who put on boots every day to ensure the show horse community to continues to thrive long into the future.
